Advanced Air Quality Monitors Now Operational In Punjab’s Major Districts
Attention to all residents of Punjab currently experiencing severe difficulties caused by air pollution and smog, the Punjab government has implemented a significant action to monitor the level of smog in the air. This is the latest update for the affected individuals.

In line with the province’s digital transformation, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz of Punjab has taken the initiative to establish a cutting-edge air quality monitoring system. This has resulted in the installation of 30 monitors in heavily polluted cities such as Lahore.

The Punjab government has taken a beneficial and systematic approach to alleviate the effects of smog among residents by deploying advanced air quality monitors in multiple cities across Punjabi.

According to official sources, around 30 air monitors have been placed in Lahore and other cities known for high levels of pollution. The next phase of the project will see an additional 25 monitors set up. With this new development, Lahore currently has eight monitors dedicated to tracking air pollution levels.
Global AQI Information Network
As per Maryam Aurangzeb, the latest digital technology will integrate the worldwide AQI (Air Quality Index) information network. The availability of data to both researchers and the public will foster a transparent environment, replacing the current practice of concealing information.
The implementation of this state-of-the-art machinery will provide accurate information and assist in quickly identifying and stopping air pollution.
Law enforcement cracking down on those who break anti-smog regulations
Punjab has enacted a stringent law to combat the harmful effects of smog and pollution, requiring all residents to adhere to its regulations. In recent news, 18 complaints were filed by the police and 12 individuals were apprehended for violating these anti-smog measures. According to a police representative, 29 individuals received warnings and 362 were issued fines totaling over Rs 550,000.
Challans are issued to vehicles that contribute to pollution.
Challans were issued to approximately 4,865 cars due to excessive smoke emission. Out of those, 445 vehicles were seized and the fitness certificates of two were cancelled. In addition, 52 stores in the provincial capital were closed for failing to comply with the designated smog-fighting operation hours.
