Punjab New Project: Agri E-Mechanization
The Punjab administration and the Asian Development Bank have agreed to start the “Agri E-Mechanization Project” in Punjab, which should shortly be approved by the cabinet. From the start of her era, Maryam Nawaz always highlighted the need to boost the agriculture sector by introducing high tech machinery and inputs in the field.

ADB delegation Meeting with Senior Provincial Minister
The ADB group met with Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb on Saturday and came to a consensus. Climate change, agricultural development, and environmental efforts were the topics of discussion throughout the meeting.
The team was briefed by the Senior Minister on CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s goals, which include agri-e-mechanization, health, education, and the development of local expertise in all sectors, as well as the creation of a climate observatory, a climate action plan, farmer welfare, and carbon credits. She went on to say that plans are being discussed to connect Punjab’s agricultural universities with international establishments.
Important Discussion About Agri Mechanization
She emphasized that in order to stop crop residue burning, 5,000 super seeders have been given to farmers at a 60% subsidy as part of the CM’s program. Easy loans for farmers and climate-resilient agricultural equipment are also being introduced. Four agricultural zones have served as the basis for the development of a comprehensive strategy, and thorough machinery mapping has been completed.
The delegation received a briefing on harvesters, balers, and rice transplanters. In addition to 20,000 tractors being produced locally, a one million rupee incentive per tractor is being offered. There are rental options available for people who cannot afford to buy machinery. Harvesters are being made available under local finance, and the payment mechanism has been enhanced.

Climate Strategy and Carbon Market Collaboration
International cooperation on carbon markets, air quality, and carbon credits was a key focus of the summit. According to the senior minister, the carbon funding program would also involve the business sector. All departments are cooperating under a single plan, and a policy and vision for climate resilience have been established. Technical support is being obtained for data development, markets, and carbon storage.
She confirmed that every climate program is in line with the Paris Agreement’s goals. While the Climate Action Plan, flood protection, and other relevant programs are actively moving forward, Punjab’s first Climate Observatory is equipped and ready for debut with a comprehensive PC-1. The initiative also prioritizes AQI enhancements and multi-sectoral carbon storage. To stop the burning of crop residue, a collection mechanism is being developed.
Plantation Funding and Stakeholder Support Secured
Furthermore, 1% of the budget for each ADP project has been set aside for plantations. The transportation, energy, and agriculture sectors are some of the major participants in the climate-resilient initiative. Maryam Aurangzeb, the senior provincial minister, thanked the delegation for their pledge of cooperation and support.
