BISP, HBL Collaborate To Improve Disbursement Efficiency

As part of its continuous distribution program, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has partnered with Habib Bank Limited (HBL) to strengthen payment methods and the overall beneficiary experience.

According to a news release, a high-level coordination conference was conducted in Karachi to evaluate the logistical and technical difficulties encountered during the third quarter of the disbursement cycle and to complete the arrangements for the fourth quarter.

Payment Disbursement Via HBL Retail Network Nationwide

HBL’s retail network across the country would be used to distribute the payments.

Senior representatives from both organizations attended the meeting, which was presided over by Dr. Muhammad Tahir Noor, Additional Secretary BISP. Mr. Shaikh Umair Asad, Senior Product Manager; Miss Samreen Shamsheer, Business Head; and Mr. Allah Nawaz, Cluster Manager, represented HBL, while Director General Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Shaikh and Director Mr. Akram Bhutto participated on behalf of BISP Sindh.

In order to enable recipients to receive timely and respectable payments, Dr. Tahir Noor underlined the significance of maintaining excellent service delivery standards and ensuring smooth coordination.

Necessary Entities Provided By HBL At Payment sites

Given the continuing heatwave and high humidity levels in several localities, Dr. Tahir Noor instructed HBL to offer basic amenities at payment sites, such as clean drinking water, covered waiting rooms, and appropriate sitting arrangements.

BISP has shifted from traditional camping disbursement to a more accessible retail-based payment approach as part of its reform effort.

BISP Payment Method Shiftment To Retail Model

The goal of this change is to lessen public gatherings and the physical strain that severe weather conditions place on beneficiaries, especially women and the elderly.

System preparedness, guaranteeing cash availability, enhancing biometric verification, and fortifying grievance redressal and real-time monitoring systems were the main topics of discussion during the meeting. The urgent necessity to put in place a strong complaint handling system and take proactive steps to stop illegal auto-withdrawals from beneficiary accounts was also acknowledged by both parties.
