Latest Update: Budget 2025-26
In the next Budget 2025–2026, the federal government will unveil a relief package for government employees. According to reports, a 30% difference allowance for Grade 1–16 employees has been proposed. Additionally, a 15% pay raise for workers in Grades 17–22 has been suggested.
10% Increase In Salaries & Pensions
On June 10, the federal government is expected to unveil the Rs17.68 trillion Budget 2025–2026. Among the main ideas being considered is a 10% raise in government employee pay and pensions. Authorities are also considering a plan to include the 2022 ad hoc relief allowance into basic pay, which might result in a permanent increase in total salaries and have an impact on pension calculations and future raises.
Additionally, a large reduction in the State Bank’s policy rate is anticipated, which could save the government some Rs1,300 billion in loan and interest payments, providing some fiscal relief in the next fiscal year. In order to reduce spending, Pakistan is anticipated to prioritize austerity measures in the upcoming budget for 2025–2026.

As the government imposed a new carbon levy of Rs2.5 per litre on petroleum products, it is anticipated that the price of petrol and diesel will increase following Budget 2025.
After the government budget is finalized, it is predicted that fuel prices would rise in the second half of June 2025. With the carbon tax included, the current costs of fuel and diesel, which are around Rs. 253.63 and Rs. 254.64 per litre, might increase to about Rs. 256.13 for petrol and Rs. 257.14 for diesel.
