Latest Petrol Price To Hike From July 16

Following a sustained increasing trend in the price of crude oil globally, industry insiders predict that petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan may rise by up to Rs6.60 per litre over the next 15 days.

The proposed hike, as of the time of reporting, will raise the price of gasoline by Rs6.60 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs5.27 per liter.

Reduction In kerosene & Light Diesel Prices

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) of Pakistan has suggested slight price cuts for kerosene and light diesel oil (LDO) during the biweekly fuel price review that will take effect on July 16.

In contrast to the anticipated increases of Rs. 6.60 and Rs. 5.27 for gasoline and high-speed diesel, respectively, Kerosene is anticipated to drop by Rs. 3.74 per litre, while LDO may drop by Rs. 2.23 per litre.

OGRA’s To Present Summary Today

Based on the most recent developments in the world market, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has finished its work and will present a final summary to the government by tomorrow.

The regulator has already received the oil industry’s figures.  According to official news, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s acceptance of OGRA’s report will precede the final decision on price increases.

As part of the government’s routine pricing assessment process for petroleum goods, the suggested modifications would take effect over the course of the following two weeks.

Current petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan

Fuel Prices Hiked Due to Iran-Israel Conflict

In response to the 12-day Iran-Israel crisis, the federal government raised the price of gasoline and diesel by a large amount on July 1 for the first two weeks of the month.

According to the OGRA’s suggestion, high-speed diesel increased by Rs10.39 to Rs272.98, and gasoline increased by Rs8.36 to Rs266.79 per litre.

The crisis in the Middle East had a direct effect on Pakistan, which imports over 85% of its petroleum requirements.

Conclusion

The upcoming fuel price adjustment in Pakistan, expected from July 16, reflects ongoing global oil market trends and geopolitical tensions. While petrol and diesel prices are likely to increase by up to Rs6.60 and Rs5.27 per litre respectively, slight relief is anticipated for kerosene and light diesel.

The final decision will depend on OGRA’s summary and approval from the Prime Minister, as part of the government’s routine pricing review.
