The benchmark KSE-100 Index hit a record high on Tuesday, marking the commencement of the Pakistan Stock Exchange’s (PSX) successful fiscal year 2025–2026. Throughout the session, the index gained strength, closing at 128,199.42 points, up 2,572.11 points, or 2.05%.

Buying activity in important industries, such as automakers, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration companies, and power production enterprises, drove the index’s increase. Additionally, major index-heavy equities like HUBCO, MARI, PRL, POL, MCB, MEBL, and NBP saw an increase in trading.

The national budget’s clarity and falling interest rates, which prompted domestic investors to boost their equity exposure, are credited by analysts with the surge. According to Mohammed Sohail, CEO of Topline Securities, favorable market circumstances also contributed to the increase. The increase was primarily driven by improving macroeconomic fundamentals and an improved geopolitical outlook, according to Waqas Ghani, Head of Research at JS Global.

PM Shehbaz Hails Record PSX Performance as Sign of Economic Recovery

In a statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the stock market’s record performance, saying it demonstrated rising trust in the nation’s economy and political system. He credited the government’s actions during the previous fiscal year, which aided in the economic recovery, with the market’s strong performance.

The PSX ended the fiscal year 2024–25 on a high note Monday, thanks to year-end flows, institutional participation, and encouraging news about external financing. The KSE-100 Index closed at 125,627.31 points, its highest closing ever, up 1,248.25 points, or 1%.
