95% Discount on E-Bikes Registration Fees

Under the current policy, electric bikes in Punjab continue to enjoy a significant benefit: a 95% reduction in both registration costs and the yearly token tax. The Excise & Taxation Department has not announced any modifications to this considerable incentive, which is intended to promote greener transportation options.

Motor Cycle Fitness Certificate Fees Update

Regarding fitness certificates, a Punjab Vehicle Inspection and Certification System (VICS) representative stressed that no formal announcement on a Rs 1,000 fitness certificate cost for motorbikes has been made.

Actually, according to the most recent Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Ordinance 2025, motorbikes are exempt from the requirement for recurring fitness checks. According to VICS, they have not been given any instructions to check or charge for motorcycle fitness certifications.

Conclusion

The Punjab government has not increased motorcycle or e-bike registration fees, nor has it introduced any new fitness certificate charges for motorbikes. Official sources from the Excise Department and VICS have clearly dismissed all such claims circulating on social media. Registration fees and the 95% discount on e-bike registration and token tax remain unchanged. Always rely on verified government updates to avoid confusion and misinformation.
