Punjab Budget 2025-26: Date Announced
On Monday, June 16, Punjab will unveil its fiscal year 2025–2026 budget. The first day of the PA session is Thursday, June 12. The budget was originally scheduled to be presented by the government on Friday, June 13.
However, the budget’s final touches have been postponed until next week. The Punjab government might investigate the budgetary allocations of other provinces by postponing the budget for a few days.
Budget To Be Announced At Punjab Assembly
The provincial budget for the next fiscal year will be formally presented in the Punjab Assembly on Monday, June 16 during the afternoon session, Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman told reporters. He went on to say that all preparations are being completed to guarantee a thorough and organized presentation.

Rs17.6 Tn Federal Budget For FY 2025-26: Detail
National development expenditures totaling Rs4.224 trillion have been approved by the National Economic Council (NEC). This includes Rs1 trillion for the Federal PSDP, Rs2.869 trillion for Provincial ADPs, and Rs355 billion for investments made using the own funds of State-Owned Enterprises.
FBR is expected to generate Rs14.131 trillion in income, an 18.7% increase over the current fiscal year. The provinces will receive Rs8.206 trillion as their portion of federal revenue. While the federal government’s net revenue is Rs11.072 trillion, the objective for non-tax revenue is Rs5.147 trillion.
Budget 2025-26 Targets 14% Tax-to-GDP Ratio
The ambitious goal of reaching a 14% tax-to-GDP ratio is set in the budget for 2025–2026. Official estimates place the tax deficit facing the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) at over Rs5.5 trillion.
The finance minister provided information on steps to prevent fraud and boost tax compliance, such as preventing more than Rs9 billion in fictitious tax refunds and employing artificial intelligence to spot false claims totaling Rs13 billion.
Price Of Electricity Decrease By More Than 31%
He said that political meddling has decreased since power distribution businesses were turned up to professional boards. Consequently, these businesses cut losses by Rs140 billion in just nine months, with the aim of eradicating all losses in five years.
The finance minister reported that while the power tariff for protected users has increased by more than 50%, the price of electricity has dropped by more than 31%.
