The Government of Punjab has implemented thoughtful measures for students in underprivileged schools, especially those from impoverished families who lack suitable clothing. In line with this, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz of Punjab has recently launched a new initiative to support schoolchildren across various regions of the province.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has initiated the “Umeed-e-Nau Program” under the Punjab government’s guidance, aimed at assisting underprivileged students during the cold winter season.

Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, has declared the implementation of a new program throughout the province, specifically targeting students who meet eligibility criteria and come from vulnerable backgrounds. CM has taken action to help underprivileged children who lack adequate clothing. The Umeed-e-Nau Program has been launched for this purpose. This initiative, in collaboration with Bait-ul-Mal and the Social Welfare Department, will commence on January 13.

Areas for distribution of warm clothing:
The initial stage of the pilot project for uniform distribution will concentrate on four districts in Punjab. These specific districts were carefully selected to ensure maximum impact and effectiveness in meeting the students’ needs.
Winter essentials, such as socks, shoes, and sweaters, will be gifted to deserving students in Narowal following the conclusion of the winter break.
Empowering 23,000 Students: Target for Educational Support
A total of 23,000 students attending 204 schools will benefit from the program. Additionally, a budget of Rs 43.437 million has been allocated for the distribution of winter uniforms.
As the winter season is now in full swing across the country, including cities and regions in Punjab with frigid temperatures, the government of Punjab has decided to distribute free winter clothing to school students. This program will apply to 21,000 enrolled children in the province’s government schools specifically in Lahore.
Grand Opening Ceremony of the Welfare Program in Narowal
Plans include expanding the program to additional districts and providing equal opportunities for a greater number of deserving students.
In Narowal, the program’s official launch will be officiated by Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Suhail Shaukat Butt. Assurances have been made by officials that the transparency and adherence to merit will be strictly maintained throughout the program.
